New Ideas For Kids' Books About The Lean Times Ahead
I'll admit its cute. But I have to also say it is pretty tasteless. Or is this a reality version of 'do it for the children'? Kids have enough to handle when their parents are stressed out. Why add to it?

Comment on New England Patriots 2008 Schedule for Outlook by Thomas Trumble
Thanks, that's a great tip on MySportsCal.com. Not only does it have complete football team schedules, but also baseball, basketball, soccer, hockey, etc. You can download just about any schedule for MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA, NCAA, etc. A great resource.

Supermarket Chain Adds 10% At Register, But Only In Some Stores
I can understand a restaurant (for example) that does not price "the lobster" in their menu and instead charges "market" rates that change daily or weekly.
Makes sense, up to a point.
And I could understand a grocery store that has a single product or group of products with prices that change daily. Can't think of one, but I am sure there is something out there that could sharply change with each and every delivery.
But those are the farking exceptions to the rules.
This Plus 10% is, to use a sports metaphor, a bit of piling on and should receive a penality flag for unsportsman like conduct.

5 Expenses To Cut Right Now If You're In Debt
This is all useful advice, but I pay my bills on time, have always shopped sales with coupons and at the farmer's market to keep the grocery bill low, split a basic cell phone plan with my out-of-state mom to keep in touch cheaply (she's disabled, so frequent contact is indeed necessary), do actually require a decent internet connection to run my business, have never bought a new car (go used '92 Volvo sedan!), have a very low interest rate on my lone credit card and don't have a gym membership/subscription service for a fancy, shiny bit of new technology/similar expenditure and my only debt is the mortgage. Do you have any money-saving tips for people like me?

After The Bailout AIG Bought Themselves A $440,000 "Retreat" At A California Resort
Hehehe.
Obama was just on in the start of the debate tonight. He brought this AIG $400k waste of money up as an example. He said the treasury should demand that money back and fire everyone involved in the trip.

Don't Even Look At Your Hotel Room's Minibar Or You Might Get Charged
I stayed downtown Chicago a few weeks ago. The cheapest thing in our minibar was a Snickers bar for $3. I could have walked down the hall to the vending area and got the same Snickers bar for $1.50. Or I could have gone half a block to Michigan Ave and got it for 59 cents at Walgreen's.

WOOHOO! Awesome! Congratulations.
I would like to comment regarding the FICO score: At least 2 people here have commented that you should leave credit cards open, but with a zero balance, in order to keep your FICO score up. However, if you're living debt-free, the only time you should ever borrow money is to get a mortgage. When getting a mortgage, the FICO score is only one of many factors that are looked at, so why worry about FICO so much? I don't. (Brainwashed by Dave Ramsey, I guess!)
Have these people forgotten the Consumerist articles talking about how companies randomly open old accounts, people get their identity stolen, etc., all that? I personally believe that the arguments for a credit card do not beat the arguments AGAINST them.

What Is Commercial Paper And Why Is The Federal Reserve Suddenly Buying It?
@Snarkysnake: EXACTLY. A crash in commercial paper would have the most direct consequences for many of us. Just imagine companies like Starbucks or McDonalds suddenly unable to pay their employees. A lot of companies with tight margins operate (briefly) in the red while buying up food and fuel.

What Does The Bailout Mean For You?
Also, there's a bike commuter tax credit that employers can pass down, worth something like $240 tax-free per year for upkeep on a bike/related expenses if you use it to regularly commute.
